Georges Zadeyan used to wake his children early in the morning and whisk them to his restaurant, the French Pastry Shop, to have breakfast with him.

They sat at the same table, at the same seats, watching their dad sip espresso and counting the number of croissants he would tuck away.

You may notice changes the next time you go to The French Pastry Shop & Creperie at La Fonda on the Plaza.

The well-known restaurant has been closed for remodeling since Jan. 6 and won’t reopen until Jan. 20 or perhaps Jan. 19, if all goes well.
